Company History & BackgroundHandel Street Medical is a subsidiary of Handel Street Upholstery, a company founded more than 50 years ago and over time has developed into South Africa’s leading manufacturer of Original Equipment and Aftermarket vehicle interiors. During the worldwide pandemic, the shortage of quality PPE threatened the South African Healthcare System, an event which inspired the textile experts and engineers at Handel Street Upholstery to pool their knowledge and resources together and partner with global experts and innovation leaders to develop and patent medical respirators and face masks.This noble and selfless act gave rise to Handel Street Medical (HSM). The ethos of the company is thus rooted in this altruistic nature as it recognizes the need to make quality healthcare available to all the people of Africa.The company’s quest for excellence in innovation has seen HSM become a multiple patent holder and the first South African Company the get regulatory (SAHPRA) approval for the local manufacturing of PPE.Since its inception, HSM has obtained all the necessary licences and accreditation to pursue its mission and vision. HSM is a proud member of the Medical Device Manufacturers of South Africa (MDMSA).It is also a Level 1 BBBEE contributor.
